Located just minutes off the New England Highway on Castlerag Road, Kookaburra Camping and Caravan Park is approximately halfway between the northern New South Wales New England towns of Glen Innes and Tenterfield. Look for the signs about 12 kilometres north of Deepwater.
Set on 600 acres of bushland, with walking and mountain-bike tracks leading to incredible views, massive rocky outcrops, and abundant wildlife, Kookaburra Camping and Caravan Park is a bushwalker’s paradise and a birdwatcher’s heaven.
Host Duncan Macdonald is ready to welcome travellers to this pet-friendly retreat where motorhomes and big rigs are easily accommodated (most sites are drive-through).
The Kookaburra Eco Cottage can accommodate families or couples for a special weekend retreat. The cottage features two bedrooms (one queen bed, two single beds), a sofa-bed in the lounge room, a slow-burning fireplace and self-catering kitchen and dining. All linen is supplied.
The Tenterfield Visitor Information Centre has reopened following closures due to COVID-19 restrictions. The centre will be operating via a window service for the time being, and is staffed Monday to Saturday. Phone calls will be answered on Sunday.
